When I do a Phrase search such as "reasons for action", (quotes entered by user), the standard analyser takes the tokens as "reasons " and "action". The stop word "fore" is ignored. How can i get it to un-ignore the stopword.

There's the option of having your own set of stop-words, where I need not give "for". However, I need "for" to be ignored in all cases except when it is in Phrase search, where i need it to be taken as part of the Phrase itself

Perhaps you can write your own query parser that does not use an Analyzer for phrase queries. I think this will lead to another set of problems (e.g. no stemming), but you can give it a try.
