Can not create IndexWriter object

I'm getting the following exception when creating an
IndexWriter on an existing directory.

java.io.IOException: Cannot delete _1.cfs
at org.apache.lucene.store.FSDirectory.create(FSDirectory.java:144)
at org.apache.lucene.store.FSDirectory.getDirectory(FSDirectory.java:105)
at org.apache.lucene.store.FSDirectory.getDirectory(FSDirectory.java:83)
at org.apache.lucene.index.IndexWriter. (IndexWriter.java:173)

What is the reason of this error?

It is hard to tell without seeing the code. I suggest you ask for help on lucene-user mailing list and provide code that has this problem.
