I have installed J2SE 1.4 from a book disk. When I try to run it from the start menu (Start->Programs->Java Web Start) or (Start->Programs->Java 2 Runtime Environment) I do not get a Java IDE to develop applications. How do I get the IDE that I was expecting to develop Java apps?

What I have in the folder "Java web start" is Java web start 1.0.1. This is a Java Web Start App Manager program. In the "Java 2 Runtime Environment" link on my Start menu structure listed above I get a web page giving information. How do I finish installing J2SE 1.4?

You help is appreciated

The standard J2SE does not come with an IDE. To get this you will need to get a hold of the NetBeans version or download a thirdparty one such as Eclipse, JEdit etc.
