I'm using the wireless messaging API, and want to send and receive SMS messages using a MIDlet. The problem is that when an sms arrives on my phone (a AL OT 753i) the event is handled by the phone native application not by the MIDlet applicatin. the cause is clear: the port number used when receiving an sms is the one defined in the gsm spec.
My question is: is there any way to stop the native application and receive messages by the MIDlet?

I am interested in the same question. Can a second application share the event of the sms being received ? Is there an observer pattern implemented that one can add more observers perhaps for the default port ?

Have your MIDlet listen on a different port and specify that new port within the SMS header.
