How to open a combination lock?

your job is to open the combination lock at the bank. The combination is
made up of a digit in the range 0-9.Followed by a

letter in the range a-e, then followed by another

single digit in the range 0-9.

your task is to crack the code in as short a time

as possible, before the alarm goes off

Sorry but we don't do homework assignments here. It kind of goes against the spirit of the whole thing don't you think. Here's an alternative assignment..
