How to catch someone leaving the page?

I have an app set up whith about 5 includes per page . There is one page where I want to warn a user if he/she hasn't saved the newly generated text. However, when they leave the page by using a link from one of the includes, I can't provide the pop up.


Is there some sort of listner out there which gets notified when the browser is about to request a new page?

Inside the browser, maybe. But I doubt whether you would have access to it programmatically, or that would be a horrible security problem (e.g. maybe Microsoft lets you do it, from ActiveX :-).
