Why my telnet command fails to make zip or tar file.

Why my below telnet target not executing zip command. I don't get any error also. 

			

			

			cd dir1
			

			zip -r prop *
			

			cd dir2
			

			zip -r jsp *

You probably should put 's between 's to get the command-prompt back.
