If you send an email message with text/html body part containing an "img" tag, and if the recipient's email client renders HTML in email, and if the recipient's Internet settings for the default (in Windows/IE, unfortunately most email clients treat the content of email messages according to the setting for Internet Options, Security, Internet zone) are set for "automatically display images", then it should do it (retrieve and render the target of the "img" tag).
