Can log4j log into one logfile in different Java VM?

I want to know that if I use log4j in different Java VM,can they log the message into one logfile ? And I want to get related resource.
Any advice is appreciated.

I donĀ“t think that you can do that in the easiest way with FileAppender because the file is locked. But both applications can send their log events to another appender (e.g. JMSAppender, SocketAppender) which forwards the event to a server (the SocketServer is part of the Log4J distribution). And that server will write it to a logfile.


I think, Log4J is good documented. You find very much information in the javadoc.
