How can suppress the dialog that comes up when an applet
is requested to print. The applet is invoked by a
JSP plugin tag. I'm spooling multple PrinterJobs from
this applet, and user would have to click "OK" after every thread execution.

Unless you have a certificate, you have to get permission from the user. What if the user had sensitive data that he didn't want to print?
