Why doesn't my bean work in other bean tools like BeanBox?

This causes potential problems, as VisualAge will allow you to create
"beans" that aren't Serializable. Some bean tools require this, others
don't.
The JavaBean specification requires that all beans implement persistence through the Serializable or Externalizable interfaces. Nothing more is required.
IBM interpreted the bean specification a bit differently, as requiring a public default constructor and not serialization.
To make your beans as portable as possible, ensure they are properly Serializable.
