What is J/Direct?

John Zukowski

J/Direct is Microsoft's second attempt to create a proprietary mechanism to connect Java programs to native libraries (the first being RNI). It provides direct access to Win32 libraries without requiring the creation of wrappers. It will only work with the Microsoft Virtual Machine on Windows platforms. For additional information see http://www.microsoft.com/java/resource/jdirect.htm.
