Under Apache Tomcat, where should I place the JavaBeans components such that it can be accessed by both servlets and JSP pages belonging to my application?

If you are using a "J2EE web application", then you have a couple of options.
First off you could place your classes (in the appropriate directory/package structure) under WEB-INF/classes.
Alternatively, you could JAR up all of your classes and place them under the WEB-INF/lib directory where the server will automatically pick up the .jar file.
