Harvard University principal astronomer Abraham Avi Loeb doesn’t give his arm to twist. The scientist, in effect, remains convinced that Oumuamua, the first interstellar object observed by a man while crossing our Solar System, it is not a rock coming from other stars, but an object of artificial origin.

This is stated by the scientist in his new book Extraterrestrial The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth, in which he assures that our Solar System was visited recently by advanced alien technology from a distant star.

Alien Technology Passed Earth in 2017 With Oumuamua, Professor Loeb Explains

Oumuamua was first observed on October 19, 2017, by astronomer Robert Weryk with the Pan-STARRS telescope, a novel instrument developed by the University of Hawaii. After the initial observations, it was found that its orbit was too much eccentric and its speed too high to be an object originating in the Solar System. It was, without a doubt something that had come from another star. But which one? Its point of origin, three years after its discovery, remains a mystery, although several researchers believe it could be the giant molecular cloud (GMC) W51, only 17,000 light-years from Earth. For Loeb, however, it would be impossible for Oumuamua to have made such a long trip to the Solar System without ending up in pieces.

Regarding its nature, at first, it was thought that may be it was a comet, but that idea had to be discarded since Oumuamua which in Hawaiian means distant first messenger did not show any sign of sublimation or evaporation, which generally causes comets to have a characteristic tail called a coma that always points away from the Sun.

Avi Loeb was precisely one of the first to study the interstellar object in-depth, and he concluded that it was not an asteroid either. As the researcher and scientists writes, it was moving too fast along a strange orbit and leaving no trace of gases or debris in its wake. There was only one conceivable explanation. The object was a piece of advanced technology created by a distant alien civilization.

As the most widespread idea is that it is a natural object, the truth is that many unknowns still hang around Oumuamua. The red, elongated object did indeed start to accelerate against all odds, and although that acceleration could have been caused by a gas emission, astronomers were unable to find any evidence to prove it.

According to Loeb, traveling at a speed of 196,000 mph in 2017 the time this body was first discovered – Oumuamua was classified as an asteroid, and when it accelerated later it was found to have properties more similar to those of kites. But the 0.2-kilometer-radius interstellar object didn’t fit into that category either, and its point of origin remains a mystery.

Finally, its composition is not clear. It was even suggested that it was made of molecular hydrogen ice which would have served, among other things to explain its strange acceleration. But that idea was harshly refuted by Loeb himself in an August study this year, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Oumuamua’s utter lack of emissions no radio signals or any other electromagnetic emissions – led Loeb to believe that the so-called ship had not been operational for a long time. According to the scientist, it could be an ancient object that, after fulfilling its mission, continues its journey inert through the vastness of space.
