The stars of That Is Us tease what can be expected from its final season. NBC’s hit family drama is rolling up its run with its sixth season, but despite this, expect a series of plot twists – something which the show is known for during its air.
Its non-linear storytelling made it a lot easier for the show to pull off some of its most consequential story points. And just like in the last four years, That is Us season 5 utilized this to drop an unexpected revelation that will be essential to the show’s staying run. Throughout its final moments and on the heels of Kevin and Madison’s canceled wedding on the current day, the series jumped somewhat forward in time and introduced Toby along with Kate’s divorce. What makes this surprising is the fact that Number 2 is set to remarry her current boss, Phillip. Coming into That is Us season 6, this will be among the primary points of interest for audiences, but there is more to it than that.
In a new video from Rotten Tomatoes, the cast of That Is Us hypes up what to expect from season 6. While they can not get into plot details, everyone assures that viewers will be fulfilled and lovers’ patience for sticking through the series is going to be rewarded. Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson, that play with onscreen husband and wife, Randall and Beth, assure it’s going to be very emotional. Watch the video below:
The commentary from the cast in the aforementioned movie is intercut with scenes from the last seasons of That Is Us along with the montage chiefly focuses on the Pearson characters. Rightfully so, the show is about the series life of their household, beginning with Jack and Rebecca’s introduction and ultimate union. Due to its distinctive storytelling format, it is able to connect things that happened in the past to what the Big Three are moving through in the current moment. Significantly, it allows the series to continue featuring Jack who has expired decades past. So while the individual arcs of the kids are going to be significant, anticipate that That Is Us will continue to function as Pearsons’ overall journey.
That is Us season 6 will be anchored, but by a single story the death of Rebecca. The first phases of the show focused on Jack’s story and how it related to the life of his family, but as it inches towards its end, anticipate that there’ll be more focus on the Pearson matriarch. The fundamental flashforward of the show revolves around her death and because she’s also verified to have dementia, season 6 will deeply explore this subject matter and her memories will be a vital part of how it will all end.
