The next week, The Conners’ season 3 finale will eventually bring back a former series regular: Maya Lynne Robinson. The Roseanne spin-off has experienced quite the third season covering the coronavirus pandemic and the financial hardships that have struck American blue-collar households. Regardless of being a sitcom, The Conners hasn’t been one to shy away from hard-hitting issues, and recent episodes have seen Becky (Lecy Goranson) suffer a relapse within her alcoholism and the death of Darlene’s (Sara Gilbert) former rival Molly (Danielle Harris). But with season 3 coming to an end, things might lighten up.
Robinson plays Geena, wife to DJ Conner (Michael Fishman) and mom to their daughter. Geena’s roots in this world stretch back to Roseanne, although she had been played with Rae’Ven Larrymore Kelly back then. Robinson landed the role when it had been recast for The Conners and has been a series regular back in season 1. However, she afterward departed the series before season 2 because of some new function on CBS’ The Unicorn. To explain her absence, Geena was redeployed into Afghanistan. Robinson hasn’t returned to The Conners because of her departure, but that seems to shift with the last episode of season 3.
Robinson will look in The Conners’ season finale, which premieres on Wednesday, May 19 at 9/8c. Geena will return home to Lanford and reunite with DJ and their daughter Mary (Jayden Rey). It is said that although there, Geena will make some life-changing decisions which will affect all three of them. The site also contained some pictures of Geena’s homecoming.
Exactly what those”life-changing decisions” entail remains to be seen, but it might be that Geena is leaving the army behind for good. This may pave the way for Robinson to return to The Conners for a lengthier time, though that is dependent on her function over the still-unrenewed The Unicorn. Additionally, The Conners is still awaiting word on season 4, though all indications have so far pointed to it scoring a renewal sometime soon. If the series continues, Robinson could stick around.
At precisely the same time, it might also be the DJ and Mary will create their exits to move somewhere with Geena. That route could result in a more emotional finale, but it would also at least ensure that this family sticks together. At this time everything is up for speculation. Fortunately, there’s just one week to go before The Conners season 3 comes to an end, so fans won’t be stuck waiting in expectation for a long time. Irrespective of how the story finishes, it will be nice to see Robinson back to the show to help close out the season.
