But not everything was gray for Checo Pérez in 2020: on December 6, the Mexican driver made history after being crowned in the Sakhir Grand Prix, the first triumph in his career in the premier class, since his arrival in 2011 for the team Sauber.

Sergio Pérez said,

“I won my first race and we put Mexico back at the top after 50 years,”

A result that convinced the Red Bull Racing team to sign him for Sergio Pérez to be one of their drivers in 2021. “I have the opportunity for which I have worked (for) for more than 25 years.”
