The Last Kingdom Season 5

Fans are already conscious of The Last Kingdom’s renewal for a Season 5. Netflix renewed the fifth season on July 7, 2020. The forthcoming season is likely to be based upon the 9th and 10th series of the release ‘The Saxon Stories’ -‘ The Warriors of the Storm’ and ‘The Flame Bearer’.

Sad to say, the audiences have to wait a bit longer to watch The Last Kingdom Season 5. Recently, Netflix has announced the complete list of films and series to be out in April 2021. The Last Kingdom Season 5 is not on the list. However, fans should not fret because the historical fiction series will stream on Netflix this season or at the beginning of 2022.

Reportedly, the filming of The Last Kingdom Season 5 was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no official announcement about The Last Kingdom Season 5 release, however, “there are a lot happening with production, especially with the significant battle sequences that happen each season. That all takes some time to create and place together and make it look really good.”

Back in The Last Kingdom Season 5, Uhtred (played with Alexander Dreymon) would have to ‘confront his greatest enemy and endure his greatest reduction’ to attain his fate, according to a synopsis of the season released earlier.

The Last Kingdom Season 5

In Season 4, we watched Brida (Emily Cox) turning against her childhood friend Uhtred. IN the UK, it seems the forthcoming season will bring further changes to Brida’s personality. Brida and Uhtred grew up together. They had a good relationship and they were in love for a short period. But, Uhtred’s devotion to the Saxons would not go down well with his childhood friend Brida. Brida chose to destroy everything that Uhtred enjoys.

The Last Kingdom Season 5 will continue to focus on this part of the story. Alexander Dreymon said they’re working on the story.

“We are faced with this issue now, getting into year five where Uhtred is technically… I think he starts at 54 and ends up in 60 from the novels. That is an issue right now because how do we make it look like Uhtred has aged without it appearing comical? We are working on it,” Alexander Dreymon added.

Additionally, The Last Kingdom Season 5 is likely to continue to follow the amalgamation of England. In the previous season, we watched Aethelflaed (Millie Brady) falling out with her lover Uhtred over the Mercian throne.

Fans will have to wait a couple more weeks to see The Last Kingdom Season 5. If filming proceeds with no hurdles, the historical drama would launch on Netflix in the second half of 2021 or early 2022.
