Times change and you in a time in which Bad Bunny can become the first singer trap and reggaeton to win an official WWE Championship, the famous American wrestling show. The Puerto Rican artist has also become the best (and most unexpected) Bugatti ambassador, by making his stellar appearance at the Royal Rumble, one of the most important events in WWE, driving his Bugatti Chiron Sport 110 Ans. More than two million people saw it live through the pay-per-view method and several dozen more have seen it since then through social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and even Twitch ).

Bugatti on social media two months before, the exclusive special edition Bugatti Chiron also starred in one of the highlights of the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards ceremony by appearing live on the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge in Puerto Rico with Bad Bunny at the wheel and between strict measures of security. There can be no better publicity for Bugatti, a luxury car brand that once made its vehicles for aristocrats and members of European royalty and has now become the eccentric whim of artists, athletes, and new millionaires like Bad Bunny.

The Puerto Rican singer, the author of great successes such as ‘Callaíta’, ‘Yo person sola’ or the most recent ‘Dákiti’, is not the only urban music star who boasts Bugatti on Instagram. His compatriot and musical rival Anuel AA has also owned a white Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse for a month. Both have been inspired by Bugatti for the lyrics of some of their best-known songs and have made the French brand the new object of desire for hundreds of millions of teenagers who listen to their songs and follow them through social networks. If before they were Lamborghini, Ferrari Rolls-Royce the favorite brands of the stars of reggaeton and Latin trap, now the fashion brand is Bugatti.

Benzema’s obsession with Bugatti is older than that of his friend and former teammate. The French forward has owned a Veyron since at least October 2014, when he uploaded the first photo of the French supercar to his Instagram account. In late 2017 or early 2018, he acquired his second Bugatti model, a black and white Chiron that he boasts quite often on Instagram. And less than two months ago he photographed himself with another blue-gray Chiron at his home in Madrid.

The Bugatti is the downfall of Benzema, Cristiano, Bad Bunny, Anuel, Mayweather, El Alfa  But it could also be the ruin of the French brand itself, which in recent times has decided to relate its image, previously elitist and bohemian, with that of footballers, boxers, and superstars of urban music. At a particularly sensitive time when the Volkswagen Group would be negotiating the sale of Bugatti to the Croatian electric supercar company Rimac, the case of the French luxury brand is beginning to resemble what happened with Maybach less than a decade ago. The mythical German firm (recovered by Daimler in 2002) disappeared for the second time in 2013 without having found its place among the super-luxury automakers (Rolls-Royce and Bentley).

Maybach’s exaggerated resemblance to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class wasn’t the only reason for its demise. Apart from a slightly differentiating and characteristic design, the image of the German brand ended up being definitively devalued by becoming the icon of the great hip-hop stars of the moment, such as rappers Jay-Z or Kanye West, who even dared to modify and destroy a Maybach 57 valued at 300,000 euros for the recording of a music video.

Mayweather’s Incredible Car CollectionThis does not appear to be the case with Bugatti, which has the strength and brand equity that Maybach did not have. In addition, the French have made a place among other luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz, which are also the object of desire of sportsmen and music stars. Mayweather himself owns at least five Rolls-Royce models (between Flying Spur, Wraith, Ghost, and Phantom ) two Bentley Mulsanne, four Ferrari sports cars (including two 458 Italia Spider and a 599 GTB Fiorano ) a Lamborghini Aventador, a Porsche 911 Turbo S and several Mercedes-Benz, including a 1996 S 600 and an impressive G63 that he gave to his daughter Iyanna at just 19 years old. Although Bugatti is now the car that all teenagers in the world want.
