Shaun and Lea are very close to taking a definitive step in their relationship: a visit from their parents. Season 4 of The Good Doctor continues after dedicating a double chapter to the coronavirus pandemic and we continue to explore the relationship of the protagonist couple. In the next few episodes, we will see how the surgeon is doing at Lea’s parents’ visit.
According to the synopsis for episode 8 of this installment, titled ‘Parenting’, “the team treats a teenage gymnast who experiences complications after intensive training. Meanwhile, Shaun meets Lea’s parents for the first time.” Therefore, they are not mere speculation, ABC has made it quite clear. What we don’t know is how that family gathering will go. Will Shaun manage to get hold of them with his natural charm? Will he back down at the last minute? What will Lea ( Paige Spara ) think of all this?

Meeting your girlfriend’s parents is a very important step for any couple, but in the case of Freddie Highmore’s character, it is even more special. The relationship between Lea and Shaun has been in the making for a long time and their chemistry is unquestionable, so no one wants the relationship to be complicated only by the visit of the parents. They will have enough with the plot of the January 18 episode, where, as seen in the preview, it will be discovered that Lea has an ex-husband and, logically, Shaun asks why she had never mentioned him.
Season 4 of The Good Doctor returned from its winter break on January 11 and, if nothing happens between them, the evolution between Lea and the surgeon will be the central plot of this installment. At the same time, the new batch of episodes will explore the consequences of the pandemic on the medical corps. Lim is suffering from PTSD and will need to learn to ask for help when she needs it most.
