Back in 2017 when Sherlock S4 released its last episode, it led to a huge heart break for fan of the Sleuth and his Doctor side kick. But now, the air has strong speculations for BBC One’s wish to renew the detective drama for a new season 5. Sherlock is a British crime drama based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and produced by Sue Vertue, Elaine Cameron. The series first aired on 25th July, 2010 and the final episode aired on 15th January, 2017.
Not only did Sherlock garner a huge fan following, but the main roles played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman turned out to be breakthrough roles for the duo.

The show feature Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role of Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson. Other characters include Andrew Scott as James “Jim” Moriarty, Sian Brooke as Eurus Holmes, Mark Gatiss as Mycroft Holmes, Amanda Abbington as Mary Watson, Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Lara Pulver as Irene Adler and Jonathan Aris as Anderson.
The Plot Of Sherlock Season 5
The story is a modern-day take on the famous “consulting detective” Sherlock Holmes and his side-kick flat mate Dr John Watson who has returned from military service in Afghanistan. Together they solve various crimes in and around the city of London also assisted by detective inspector Greg Lestrade. Apart from solving cases, Sherlock and Dr Watson share a friendly bond with Dr.Watson at times getting annoyed with Sherlock’s airs and frequent habits of substance abuse. With various twists and turns Sherlock was successfully able to over throw his arch nemesis Jim Moriarty.
The last Season of Sherlock showcased more of a personal side of the detective and his partner. Season 4 begins with the tragic death of Dr. Watson’s wife and ends with revealing a secret sister of Sherlock, Eurus Holmes.
The Release Date Of Sherlock Season 5
The detective drama recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and the show’s actors as well as the fans have teased a Season 5 for the series.
Although, the show ended without any major nemesis and cliffhangers, the fans are anticipating a new season and awaiting Benedict Cumberbatch to resume his role as the sleuth.
The news is that there is no official announcement by the makers of but rumor has it that BBC One may return with a new Sherlock season by 2022 after completion of all major projects.
