The Starz app’s breakout episode set a record. P-Valley became the most viewed series on Starz. After just three episodes, the premium cable network quickly renewed PValley in summer 2020. So, we are guaranteed a second season.
Based on a play by Katori, the showrunner and Pulitzer Prize Winner, Palley takes visitors to the fictional Mississippi Delta city of Chucalissa. There we can see all the drama surrounding the Pynk, a strip club owned by Uncle Clifford. He is a brazen, smart, and struggling businessman. Each episode in the sexy series was filmed by a woman. Hall’s personal experiences are the basis of the stories.
“I grew to go to strip clubs. It was just a part of Southern Black culture. It was something we didn’t necessarily view in a shameful light,” she explained to The Playlist. “Sometimes, the world is misunderstood.” These women are often misrepresented, and they’re not valued. I wanted to respect their names because I knew they were artists. This is nothing to be ashamed of.
All we know about Season 2 of the highly anticipated series is here.
Is There A P-valley Season 2 Release Date Yet?
Unfortunately, the network hasn’t yet given an official date. We do know, however, via an exclusive of the Hollywood Reporter – that season 2 will have 10 episodes and not eight.
Based on a few contextual clues, it seems that Uncle Clifford/Mercedez may need to wait until 2022 to return to our screens. Erica (Autumn Night), Hall, and Elarica have both said that the pandemic delayed production. Hall explained to Indie Wire how it might take two more years to complete the second season. Recently, she announced to The Playlist that the second season was almost in production.
