Paramount+ renewed its original hit series only three episodes into the second season. Evil for a third season. You can stream weekly on Paramount+, Viacom CBS’ live and on-demand streaming platform. Evil Katja Herber follows Kristen Bouchard (a cynical and skeptical forensic psychologist) investigates the church’s backlog of unexplained phenomena. This includes hauntings, miracles and possessions. They explore both scientifically and religiously nature and the origins of evil.
The series’ first season was a hit when it premiered in 2019. In the second season, Evil seems to follow this trend. It sees the evil being investigated moving closer to home. Kirsten is struggling with her dark side, David trying to decide if he should become a priest and Ben haunted with night-terrors. Evil also stars Christine Lahti Skylar Grey, Maddy Crocco, and Michael Emerson.

Evil failed to garner strong weekly ratings despite being a popular show. The viewing figures dropped from 4.56 to 3.19 million between the final season 1 and 2 episodes. Paramount claims that, since its move to Paramount+, has been a strong draw for the streaming platform, with increasing ratings every week. Paramount decided to renew Evil for its third season, even though it has only three episodes. Paramount released a statement to accompany the announcement that Evil was renewed. It stated: “This season is already one the service’s top acquire drivers, with viewership increasing week over week, compared with the first season.”
This is a great result for the show, which despite its turbulent start was very well-received. The show’s handling of religious themes and central performances was praised by critics. Some compared it to The X-Files but with a stronger religious bent. Paramount is likely to expect these numbers to increase as the second season progresses, with at least ten more episodes of Evil. The company’s decision not to release episodes weekly is a smart one to keep recurrent viewers happy.
It is hoped that this faith will prove to be well-placed so Evil can continue its upward trend in ratings. The show will likely be helmed and managed by Robert King and Michelle King. They were previously instrumental in the release of Viacom CBS’ previous streaming platform, CBS All Access. Their critically acclaimed series, The Good Fight was also released.
