Doom Patrol returns for Season 3 on September 23rd. Here’s our first glimpse at one new character fans can expect to see when the season launches next month on HBO Max. Entertainment Weekly reported that Madame Rouge will be played in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina by Michelle Gomez.
According to Gomez’s casting announcement earlier this year, Madam Rouge will be a “complex-and-fascinating eccentric, who arrives with a very special goal… if it could be remembered.”
According to the season synopsis, Gomez’s Madame Rouge will come in a time machine as part of Season 3, however, how that will fit into the season, which looks like it will be a crazy trip based on the just-released teaser, remains to be seen. Doom Patrol’s Madame Rouge will likely be as complex as any character seen on the show so far.
“I was trying to convey to her, that in our viewpoints, the Madame Rouge in Doom Patrol in that you cannot fully identify them either as good or evil,” showrunner Jeremy Carver told Entertainment Weekly. “They’ve all done some things they are embarrassed about, but that doesn’t make them terrible people.

Michelle’s character journey revolves around this question: “Am I nice or evil?” She is in the middle of Michelle’s character journey and gets more comedy from a sentence than any other person. She brings a lot of excitement to the event, in my opinion.
Brendan Fraser plays Robotman (aka Cliff Steele); Matt Bomer is Negative Man (aka Larry Trainor); April Bowlby is ElastiWoman; Diane Guerrero is Crazy Jane; Joivan Dodge plays Cyborg (aka Victor Stone); Abi Monterey plays Dorothy; and Timothy Dalton portrays The Chief, also known as Niles Caulder, in Doom Patrol.
“Season Three begins with Dorothy’s (Abi Monterrey), final confrontation with The Candlemaker. This leads to a horrible loss. Each member of Doom Patrol is struggling with their identity and future. Madame Rouge (Michelle Gomez), a time machine carrying a very specific assignment, makes things even more complicated.
