On the 29th triple-double of his NBA career, Luka Doncic left Michael Jordan himself behind in that statistic. The Mavericks point guard got it in the meeting that measured his team with the Bulls. The Slovenian player reached that figure with his tenth assist, to which he added 32 points and 13 rebounds with 17 minutes remaining to play. He ended up with 36 + 16 + 15 .
Doncic, in what is only his third season, is already the fifteenth player in NBA history who has achieved the most triple-doubles. He is tied with Grant Hill. The former Madrid player has only had 144 games in the best league in the world. By comparing his record with Jordan, the greatest player of all-time retired with 1,072 games played, although triple-doubles weren’t one of his many specialties either.
The Mavericks point guard is preceded in the historical triple-double statistics by Oscar Robertson (181), Russell Westbrook (150), Magic Johnson (138), Jason Kidd (107), LeBron James (94), Wilt Chamberlain (78), Larry Bird (59), James Harden (46), Nikola Jokic (45), Fat Lever (43), Bob Cousy (33), Rajon Rondo (32), John Havlicek (31) and Ben Simmons (30). Seven of them are part of the Hall of Fame and several others will join it when they leave. And Doncic rubs shoulders with them.
