The third installment of the popular horror Show The Conjuring Premiered in June 2021 — directed by Michael Chaves, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It stars series stalwarts Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal detective couple Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The movie premiered simultaneously in cinemas and on streaming service HBO Max. In its first weekend of release, it debuted atop the box office together with the third greatest taking since the start of the pandemic.
Dependent on the real-life trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, which was the earliest documented use of demonic possession as a lawful defense, The Devil Made Me Do it’s a fictionalized account of these events.
However, what lies in wait for those Warrens next? Will they reunite for another investigation into the paranormal? Keep reading to find out what we know so far about a possible Conjuring 4.
Will there be a Conjuring 4?
Whilst The Conjuring 4 has yet to be awarded the official green-light by Warner Bros. if a film makes money then there’s a good chance you’re going to see a sequel… and The Conjuring series has made plenty of cash.
Stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are on record saying they would be up for future installments and that if fans go and watch the next one — either in the cinemas or on HBO Max — and also prove the need for more Conjuring movies, then you will be made.
With the popularity of the show and the seemingly endless stories which can be told, wager on a Conjuring 4 happening.
The Conjuring 4 release date
There is no official release date as of yet for Your Conjuring 4. Given there was a gap of five years between Conjuring 3 and 2, it’d be foolish to expect a fourth movie too soon, especially with all the additional spin-offs from the Conjuring Universe.
A planned spin-off entitled The Crooked Man and a sequel to The Nun would be expected to land before an immediate Conjuring sequel.
Given there has not even been any discussion around a Conjuring 4 script, it’s not possible to see it emerging on displays before 2023 at the earliest.
The Conjuring 4 cast
Conjuring stalwarts Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have stated they are more than happy to keep on emerging as everybody’s favorite paranormal investigators — just as well since they’re the center of the series.
Whilst other horror franchises have gone through continual recastings, it is difficult to see them doing this using The Conjuring. If a Conjuring 4 happens, it’s likely to star Wilson and Farmiga.
Will The Conjuring 4 be on HBO Max?
In the US, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It had been released at cinemas and also on HBO Max to get a limited window of one month after which point it will be removed from the streaming service before its home video release.
Since HBO Max is yet to start in the United Kingdom, The Devil Made Me Do It premiered on big screens nationwide.
Since the stunt shut down cinema screens, film suppliers had to innovate and experiment in the way they got movies to audiences. One such way was releasing movies directly to streaming solutions using Disney, Warner Bros, and Paramount all using streaming to disperse movies originally intended for a theatrical release.
Now, this has happened, it’s hard to see it being flipped, particularly as the traditional studios struggle with Netflix and Amazon for supremacy, therefore a Conjuring 4 is very likely to turn on HBO Max on release.
