
Starring Chris Hemsworth in the lead role, Extraction is an action-thriller film which released in April, 2020 on Netflix. Based on the novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, this movie is directed by Sam Hargave and written by Joe Russo. The film follows the story of a black ops mercenary whose task is to rescue an Indian drug lord’s kidnapped son in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Since the film garnered great response from its viewers, a sequel was expected by the fans.
The Release Date Of Extraction 2
Recently in an interview withcomicbook.com, the writer and producer Joe Russo spilled the beans regarding the sequel of the movie. He said,
“We’re in the script phase right now but we’re hoping to shoot that sometime next year. And then you know, say I’m super excited, Hemsworth is super excited, Netflix is excited, so it’s really just a function of getting the script done.”
In January 2021, Chris Hemsworth will be busy shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder, followed by Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff, Furiosa. He will be available to work on Extraction sequel on in mid or late 2021.
There is no update regarding the release date yet. The shooting of the film is scheduled to start in 2021. Fans are anxiously waiting for the film and can anticipate the release to be around the end of the next year or maybe in 2022.

As Russo mentioned Hemsworth to be in the sequel, its confirmed that he’ll be returning. In the end of Extraction, Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake died but the fans were confused since an unfocused man was shown watching Ovi from a distance. However, it remained unknown to the fans if Rake died for real or not. So, Hemsworth’s character remains a mystery to the fans.
There are many possibilities on how the story might progress. We can see a continuation of the previous story where Rake can be alive and looking out for Ovi. It can also turn out where Rake and Ovi might do new missions of saving someone’s life.
It would be interesting to see Tyler Rake’s past life and the reasons behind his son’s death. The first one being a hit, expectations from its sequel is pretty high.
