Black Summer Season 2

Black Summer is a series by Netflix. It is a spin-off of the series Z Nation. It is created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams. Black Summer consists of eight episodes in its first season. Z-Nation and Black Summer creator Karl Schaefer clarified that the connection between the two series is “Same apocalypse, different story.”


Black Summer takes place one year before the Z Nation. None of the original cast of Z nation is involved. Netflix has however hinted that we might see some cameos in the show’s future.

In November 2019, Netflix officially renewed the show for Season 2 with filming beginning in 2020 and the characters of Rose, Julias, and Sunset to return as well. William is also hinted to possibly be making a reappearance by the actor, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Release date of Black Summer Season 2

Season 1 was released on Netflix on 11 April 2019, In the same year, Netflix revealed that the show is returning for the second season. But due to the COVID-19, the production was stopped in March.

In July 2020, it was said that the production would start from August however at this point it was again pushed to September. Although there has not been any official statement we can expect some teaser, trailer, or perhaps even the whole season in 2021.

We can surely expect the original cast which includes Jaimy King playing the character Rose, Justin Chu Cary as Julius James, Sal Velez Jr as William Velez, Kelsey Flower as Lance, and Christina Lee as the Korean women. Including the cast, we can also expect some new faces of the new characters.

The plot of Black Summer Season 2

It is difficult to say what things can happen in a zombie apocalypse but Season 1 left us on our toes. Rose rejoined with her daughter. Other than Rose, Spears and Sun sorted out some way to bear the trip.

Although the series takes quite the unexpected twists and turns. We can expect some new characters which will lead to the development of their own character arc.
