
BCCI secretary Jai Shah was elected the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday. Shah will succeed Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman Najmul Hasan. The BCCI issued a statement giving information about this. According to the BCCI, 32-year-old Shah is the youngest administrator to be appointed as ACC President.
Addressing the ACC’s AGM, the newly-elected president said, “I accept this honor and thank my esteemed colleagues in the BCCI for nominating me and recognizing me as worthy of this prestigious position.” I will work with a dedicated spirit to organize, develop and promote sports in the Asia region. ”
He said,
“The ACC promotes healthy rivalry in some of the biggest cricket playing nations. Also, there are some smaller countries active in cricket in Asia, who need help. We must remain committed to this cause and ensure that there is all-round development in the region. ”
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly congratulated Shah and said, “I congratulate Jai Shah for being appointed the new ACC President. We have worked closely, and I am well aware of his plans and vision to develop the game of cricket. ”
The former Indian captain said, “I have personally experienced the enthusiasm with which he worked to establish cricket infrastructure and ecosystem in the states of Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, and North-East. This is certainly a challenging phase, but I am confident that he will successfully overcome the challenges posed by the Coronavirus. BCCI will play a big role in rebuilding and restructuring cricket activities in Asia. ”
