Anna Jay was interviewed this week on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast where she explained what the original ideas were for her character in AEW and her addition to Dark Order. Here are the most outstanding statements:
Initially, I was going to wear a mask similar to the rest of the Dark Order guys. I still have it at my house, because I tried it on and they said ‘no, don’t wear it, we’ll make a different one for you. So I think Charlie Ramone went to a costume store to buy me a cardboard mask and I liked the idea. I wore it a couple of times until Tony Khan rejected the idea.
They wanted to maintain the same aesthetic of Dark Order with all its members and with me, they debated a lot about whether or not I used the mask to the point of making me a half mask and that in the end, I did not use it. I think that one of the ideas they had raised with my character was that I played a diva who was ashamed to wear the mask. They also discarded that idea and luckily, I ended up in a different direction.
