We are starting a new weekend, and as always from SensaCine we want to encourage you to enjoy a great shot in the company of the best series and movies. And since we know that sometimes laziness can and the last thing you want is to spend half an hour browsing the platform’s catalogs or open channels, we have prepared a brief, but succulent, list with some titles for everyone the likes.

The second season of The Mandalorian ; the tape of Tim Burton , Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children ; the next installment of fiction animation of Netflix , Hilda , and the legendary  Die Hard are some of our proposals. Do you already know what you are going to see these days?

‘THE MANDALORIAN’: SEASON 2 IS COMING TO AN END AND THE FUTURE IS WONDERFUL

Why do I recommend it? Because  The Mandalorian season 2 has been full of great moments, such as the presentation of Cobb Vanth ( Timothy Olyphant ) in ‘The Marshal’ (2×01), the debut of Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) in the world of real action in ‘The heiress’ (2×03) or the ditto of Ahsoka Tano ( Rosario Dawson ), Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan, in ‘The Jedi’ (2×05). Krayt dragons, sand dwellers, giant spiders, our helmetless bounty hunter Din Djarin, dark troopers, nods to Supreme Leader Snoke, the appointment of Carasynthia Dune, the return of Boba Fett and even the destruction of the Razor Crest. There hasn’t even been time to breathe in these chapters.

If you haven’t done it yet, this weekend you can’t miss ‘The Rescue’ (2×08), the eighth and last episode of the second installment of The Mandalorian, which will return with a third in December 2021. But, as As you know, Lucasfilm announced multiple Star Wars series for the Disney + streaming platform during Disney’s recent Investor Day. Starting with the ‘spin-offs’ of The Mandalorian  Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic , which will accompany titles such as Andor, a prequel to  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) with Cassian Andor ( Diego Luna ) and the droid K -2SO ( Alan Tudyk ); Obi-Wan Kenobi, with  Ewan McGregorand with the confirmation of  Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader; The Acolyte, set in the last years of the High Republic and with  Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) behind, or Lando, miniseries with  Donald Glover in the skin of the famous smuggler and player. And then there are the animated The Bad Batch and Visions, the animated television movie A Droid Story, the feature Rogue Squadron by  Patty Jenkins and the film directed by Taika Waititi . What a wonderful future if one is a fan of The Mandalorian and Star Wars.

DIE HARD IS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE. CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE

The Spanish dilemma par excellence is this: potato omelette, with onion or without onion? But if we want to apply a more global dilemma that affects almost the entire planet Earth, it is this: Die Hard , Christmas movie or not? If you are one of those who refuses to accept that John McClane’s adventure is in the first group, skip these paragraphs. You are not going to like what you are going to read. Because if. I’m one of those who will defend, tank top and lighter in hand, that the title directed by  John McTiernan deserves to belong to the same category as Home  Alone and A Father in Trouble .

If you have never seen Die Hard, I encourage you to close this tab and go straight to enjoy it. If you’re reluctant, here’s a quick recap:  Bruce Willis is the hero. Alan Rickman the villain. A party that turns into a robbery. Hostages. Action. Shots. Fights And a phrase for posterity: “Yippee kay yay, motherfucker!”.

Now that you have a slight idea of what this is all about, I proceed to explain why Die Hard is a Christmas movie. First of all, as one Reddit user has already determined, if you remove this time of year from history, the party John McClane is involved in would never have existed. Not even the protagonist would have gone to visit his family! But beyond that, what makes a movie worthy of being on the list of Christmas titles is the feeling. As McTiernan himself explained: “We did not intend to make a Christmas movie, but the joy that comes from it is what has made it a Christmas movie.” So, you know, stop sugar, frosting, Christmas carols and romances in which none of the protagonists have the faintest idea what love is. If we need someone at the end of the year to save us a bit from the madness that we have lived through, it is John McClane. Convince me otherwise.

‘MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN’: ALWAYS A GOOD TIME TO ENTER THE FANTASY WORLDS OF TIM BURTON

Because this adventure film with the Tim Burton stamp takes  you into a fantasy world as only he knows how to create. As hostess we have Eva Green herself , the magical guardian of the orphanage where the protagonist of our story arrives in search of her grandfather’s roots. The place is on a remote island and welcomes children with special abilities. Tim Burton himself defined Miss Peregrine as a ” sinister Mary Poppins with a big heart “, whom Green masterfully brings to life and sometimes recalls her character as Penny Dreadful .

In Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children , we also see a  creepy Samuel L. Jackson playing the villain. His name is Barron and the actor himself was in charge of giving his character personality so that he was not an evil man, which he is, but with different connotations and great intimidation skills.

The film version is the adaptation of a novel of the same name , by Ransom Riggs . When the film was released, a certain debate was generated among fans of the book for some changes made by Burton. Although we can consider them minor, since even the author himself supported the director in his decisions and gave his approval.

‘HILDA’ – SEASON 2: AN ANIMATED SERIES FOR THE LITTLE ONES AND ALSO FOR ADULTS

The animation series that seem to go for the smallest of the house, can also then make the older ones fall in love with it. This is the case with Hilda , the Netflix original animated series that will steal your heart. Its charismatic little protagonist, named Hilda, gets into various adventures in each episode related to stories and myths of the Nordic region.

The first season was already beautiful in itself, but the second does not disappoint at any time. It has great episodes about fear or love very good, and one about time travel that Christopher Nolan wishes he had done  with Tenet. And that’s so, sorry.
