Govind Seshadri's Biography



"What is most essential cannot be learnt; it can only be reached by direct experience."

Govind is a recognized authority on Enterprise Computing and is a frequently invited speaker at industry conferences worldwide. Govind currently works as Practice Leader - Enterprise Application Integration, for Cognizant Technology Solutions. His areas of interest include SOA, Messaging and Security. Prior to this, Govind was Director of Product Development for the EAI software company SeeBeyond (now part of Sun Microsystems) and managed the development of a number of products integral to the ICAN (now renamed SUN JCAPS) suite. The industry journal Business Integration voted the ICAN integration suite as "Product of the Year" for 2004. ICAN was also pivotal in launching SeeBeyond into the Leaders quadrant of The Gartner Group's Magic Quadrant for Integration Backbone Software vendors.

Govind has served on multiple expert groups (via JCP) at Sun Microsystems responsible for creating the J2EE 1.3, Servlet 2.3 and JSP 1.2 specifications.

Govind has independently consulted with leading companies like IBM, Sony and Advance PCS. Additionally, he has served as Chief Architect for CBS StoreRunner Network and has been a founding member of jGuru - the #1 Java portal. Early in his career, Govind led the implementation of one of the industry's first AI-based automated underwriting system as Lead Analyst for the S&P 500 company MGIC Investment Corporation.

Govind is the author of Enterprise Java Computing (Cambridge University Press, 1999), which was also translated and published in Japanese as Java 2 (Omsha, 2000). He was a contributing author for Special Edition:Using Java 1.1 (Que Publications, 1997), and Special Edition: Using Netscape LiveConnect (Que Publications, 1997).

Govind has also published extensively on Distributed and Web computing issues in leading journals including Dr. Dobb's Journal, Sun's Java Developer Connection, Java Report, Javaworld and Java Developers Journal. He has been the "Distributed Computing" columnist for Java Report magazine, founding editor-in-chief of SIGS ' Java Report Online, and served as the President of the Wisconsin Java Users Group for over two years.

Govind earned his Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, with an emphasis on Software Engineering.
