I am using Apache Tomcat 4.1.10 on a mac using osx.

Tomcat keeps giving me a 404 error (resource not available) when I try to access files within the $CATALINA_HOME/webapps directory. Some subdirectories work others don't, I don't know enough about this to give more detailed information.

hey bo,
can you tell which subdirectory`s work`s and which won`t?
i have the idea, that tomcat had a default setting. so the examples subdirectory works and, for example, the ROOT subdirectory won`t.
i`m not really firm with tomcat, but i know, that you had to configure server.xml in the tomcat/conf directory if you want to use own or other subdirectories.
i`m trying to create my own subdirectory, to put my servlets in it, but i`m not able to configure server.xml or i forgot something else, so i can`t give you more information.
but if you get the solution, please can you tell me?
thanx
bernd
