I have a form containing Submit and Cancel button. The task of the submit button is to search for information from a database and diplay it but if the process takes a longer time how do i cancel the process ? What code has to be put in the cancel button ?
Do i have to close the connections also? Does history.stop enough or do i have to handle additional things

A better solution is to place that on the server. Have a seperate thread complete the search. You execute a wait with a particular timeout function. When the thread is done it does a notifyAll and your thread confirms if the thead finished. If the search hasn't executed in time you can return to the user saying the search has not completed.
