I have written a server application (myserver.jar) using java. Now I want to run this server as a service and be able to stop and start it like other services. I also want this service to start when the machine boots.

I am a beginner on Redhat. So please include all the steps.

Thanks

question first,

is your server meant to run constantly or on a per-request basis?

the steps you take depend on which way you want the server to run IE: xinetd or using an init and a runlevel activation
