We need to access a database on a computer that works as an RMI server. The problem is that the accessing needs to be done on the server itself, which seems to be impossible because the rmiserver is up and running so the server cannot access its own IP, without being taken over by the rmiserver. The thing we seem to need to do is to shut down the rmiserver temporarily, access the database and then start the rmiserver again.

This seems abit awkward. Who can help?

Thx

What kind of server are you refering to? Usually an rmi server object is bound to Naming or JNDI and is probably waiting for client requests...An RMI server object can access a database using JDBC

Can you explain your problem?
