I just configured a SOAP client side (embedded inside a servlet). The configuration was pretty straightforward (JSDK 1.3.1_04). I followed these steps:

  • configured JSSE, as per Sun's documentation
  • validated the installation with a simple URL based piece of code accessing a static page via HTTPS
  • saved the certificate from the server's CA (use Internet Explorer for that)
  • added the certificate to the cacert store file

voila. I was using AXIS as the SOAP client library, and the server was IIS, with a self generated server and CA certificate.

cheers
