HTTP req/post which is a simple text based protocol for passing parameters back and forth over a single TCP/ip socket connection. It is very suitable for document exchange, as shown in its Web usage.
SOAP is a protocol for remotely invoking to methods of an object. Most of the emphasis on SOAP is usually put on using it over an HTTP connection, however HTTP is not mandatory as the wire protocol. Some vendors have already built products capable of performing SOAP calls over a JMS based link.
