problem: I am trying to connect an application to a servlet on an internal webserver. The application connects to the servlet, however, apparently the first action the webserver does on connection is to send a cookie. I believe this cookie is preventing the application from sending the information correctly to the servlet.

additionally: when I use the getContent method on the inputstream it is reported as :
sun.net.www.http.KeepAliveStream@b76fa
.

does anyone know what can be done in a case like this?

thanks in advance

you can receive the cookie using getParameter("cookie") or getHeaderField("cookie") method and use the setcookie method in URLConnection and send back the cookie to the server.
This is the way browers work.
