Problem with class reloading in Tomcat 4

Always when Tomcat is a reloading some Java classes of a modified web apllication I get the following exception, when accessing the respective website: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapper.allocate(StandardWrapper.java:676) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(StandardWrapperValve.java:214) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardPipeline.invokeNext(StandardPipeline.java:577) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardPipeline.invoke(StandardPipeline.java:483) at org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.invoke(ContainerBase.java:995) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContextValve.invoke(StandardContextValve.java:190) at org.apache.catalina.co   More>>

In catalina.out everything seems to be correct: WebappClassLoader: Resource '/WEB-INF/lib/dcms.jar' was modified; Date is now: ...,
but only a restart will bring the web application back to life.
