i used java to develop a web -based imaging software.Now,i have problem to allow my applet to read file from client side local disk. Anybody have any idea to do it, thanks.

Hi I'm developing a similar applet that does that. As a matter of fact, I manage to find two ways to do it. You can either sign the Applet but this is a very complicated thing. The other way you can try is to provide a policy file. However this policy file (.java.policy) have to be loaded to the Client's machine e.g C:Windows. You cannotdo this its a security voilation.An applet cannot have any access to files on local computer.an applet cannot invoke any other program on the local computer.So it is not possible.
