Hi I'm developing a similar applet that does that.
As a matter of fact, I manage to find two ways to do it.
You can either sign the Applet but this is a very complicated thing.
The other way you can try is to provide a policy file.
However this policy file (.java.policy) have to be loaded to the Client's machine e.g C:Windows.
You can try the following site to see if they are helpful

http://www.oop-reserch.com/swing_applet.html

http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/docs/guide/security/PolicyFiles.html

http://java.sun.com/security/signExample12/

Hope this will help you. Good day :)

You cannotdo this its a security voilation.

An applet cannot have any access to files on local computer.
an applet cannot invoke any other program on the local computer. So it is not possible.
