I added the optional task to my working build.xml. I added the optional task to my working build.xml. It was successful
in recursively getting out all of my source code in read-only mode and loading
it into my folder, but when it was finished Ant claimed that the task failed
and would not proceed on to the compilation step:

C:ProjectsIPTranslator>ant
Buildfile: build.xml

init-props:

prepare:

[mkdir] Created dir: C:ProjectsIPTranslatoroutputclasses
[mkdir] Created dir: C:ProjectsIPTranslatoroutputlib
[mkdir] Created dir: C:ProjectsIPTranslatordeploy
[mkdir] Created dir: C:ProjectsIPTranslatorjavadocs
[mkdir] Created dir: C:ProjectsIPTranslator
eports

set-classpath:

convert-classpath:
[echo] CLASSPATH: C:ProjectsIPTranslator

check-out:
[vssget] $/Java Applications/IPTranslator:
[vssget] Getting readme.html
[vssget]
[vssget] $/Java Applications/IPTranslator/bin:
[vssget] Getting ip.bat
[vssget]

[vssget] $/Java Applications/IPTranslator/src/com/kaman/util:
[vssget] Getting CommandLinePairs.java
[vssget] Getting NetUtils.java
[vssget] Getting NetUtilsTestCase.java
[vssget]

BUILD FAILED

C:ProjectsIPTranslator uild.xml:104: Failed executing: \kac2kwd1vss$win32
ss Get "$/Java Applications/IPTranslator

Why does Ant say this step failed when its results look correct?

Here's the JDK I'm using:

C:ProjectsIPTranslator>java -version
java version "1.4.0-rc"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-rc-b91)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-rc-b91, mixed mode)

Pilot error - I had a writable build.xml in my directory, so vssget returned a status code of 100, as it should. When I made the build.xml read-only, all was well. - MOD
