In that is there
any setting for the timeout period of a instance?? I want to keep track of
the ejbremove() method which container calls to remove a particular instance
of a bean.

We have one apln here in which 5 instances fo entity bean are created in
sequence. But when time comes to remove the instance(this may be due to the
timeout lapse or server shutdown.)the behaviour is uncertain. In my case i
just dont want to remove the instances quickly after it has been used but
after some time.

just clarifying that in EntityBeans, ejbRemove() call will delete the record from the database. you probably do not want to delete the data from the database after some timeout? so I am guessing you are talking about passivation and not removal. passivation is up to the implementator as alessandro suggested. most offer ways in which you can specify timeout periods for your beans...

Hi,

There are no reference in the specs regarding this. The meaning is that this implementation is left to the vendor.
