how do i get the dimensions of an image from a file?

I'm trying to determine the dimensions of image files (and hopefully flash movies as well) from the files. I'm not using AWT so I don't think I can use the Image class. Anyone have any other ideas?

Just to clarify, by dimensions i mean width and height, not file size.
