Debugger response time starting Tomcat 4.0

I have Tomcat 4.0 running from IntelliJ 2.5.2. Tomcat starts up pretty quickly when run without the debugger, around 5 seconds, but with the debugger it is 6 or 8 times slower.



Are there any tweaks that can be done to make the debugger faster? I went to the Tomcat config files and set it up so none of the servlets load on start up and that improved things by about 30%, but it is still taking 20 - 30 seconds to start the debugger.

How do you start Tomcat? Are you debugging remotely?
