I am using the AS400 JDBC driver (from JTOpen 3.0) in a standalone Java application. My application creates a single JDBC Statement object. Using the Statement object, I repeatedly call java.sql.Statement.executeUpdate(strSQLInsert) Each strSQLInsert string is a SQL INSERT operation. My program calls executeUpdate over 500 times. I noticed that there appears to be hundreds of "AS400 Read Daemon" threads created by the JDBC driver. There appears to be 1 daemon thread created for each invocation of Statement.executeUpdate(String) Is this normal?    More>>

I am using the AS400 JDBC driver (from JTOpen 3.0) in a standalone Java application.

My application creates a single JDBC Statement object.

Using the Statement object, I repeatedly call java.sql.Statement.executeUpdate(strSQLInsert)

Each strSQLInsert string is a SQL INSERT operation.

My program calls executeUpdate over 500 times.

I noticed that there appears to be hundreds of "AS400 Read Daemon" threads created by the JDBC driver.

There appears to be 1 daemon thread created for each invocation of Statement.executeUpdate(String)

Is this normal?

Oops. My application was creating hundreds of java.sql.Connection objects.

This was a programming error on my part.

Sorry!
