I have purchased JBuilder 6.0
I have previously used VisualCafe as an IDE, but my current version is not compatible with XP.

Can I use JBuilder for a simple new java file?
When I click File on the menu there is 3 options.
File/new

File/new project

File/new class.

If I click on a file/new an "object gallary" dialog opens.
I want to know if I can open a simple blank file?
Or am I restricted only to work in project folders?

Hi,

I believe you'd purchased the Enterprise version of JB6. JB6 Enterprise edition is aimed towards building projects. If you have only a single file, you won't really need to use JB at all. A simple notepad would do.

However, if you wish to use JB and has only one file, you still need to create a new application (which will ask you to create a project file) and then create choose the class icon to create a new Java Class.

More often, when you use JB, you develop projects with more than a single file though.
