Is it possible to have the stub and implementation in different packages?. As the stub is needed by the client and the server applications it would be sensible to have this in a shared JAR, however the implementation of the stub should only reside on the server and should NOT be in the classpath of the applet (for example). I know this could be solved using delagation and dynamic class loading but it seems like this should be possible just using 'rmic' compiler by just changing the target stub package name.

Does anyone know if this is possible...?

I believe the answer to your question is no.
