After getting a HTML message I need to display it in a text area.
So I parse out the code from HTML ... /HTML and display this.
This worked fine. The character encoding was Quotable-Printable.
However in some cases there may be complex HTML data having tables, pictures, links etc. How can I get this data and display it in the text area correctly ?

I thought TextArea can only be set to one format, surely you want to use a JEditorPane which will format the html you pass it. I forget how you use this properly, but I am sure there is a web browser example on the main sun site that passes a JEditorPane a URL to load. The program loads the page and the text is formatted properly including showing pictures.

Hope that made some sense
