Interrupting RMI

Is there any way to interrupt a long-running RMI call? I would have thought that Thread.interrupt() would have generated an InterruptedIOException , which would percolate back through the thread, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a proper way to stop the call?

The short answer is no.



The long answer is to separate the RMI Connection Thread from the application work. This way you can put a time-out value on the RMI Connection Thread. See my article in developerWorks for how to do this:
